Love Comes From Above
Love Comes From Above
Dear friends, let us practice loving each other, for love comes from God
and those who are loving and kind show that they are the children of God,
and they are getting to know him better.
1 John 4:7 (The Living Bible)
Life is perplexing sometimes. Days can run together and then some days seem as though time stands still. It’s been awhile now since we began our transition to a new homeland in the beautiful Texas Hill Country. It’s not as simple as packing a few boxes and requesting that your mail gets forwarded. It can certainly be complicated and distracting from what truly matters; loving God and loving others.
As I began this painting I was sitting in the mud pit of critical thinking. I couldn’t seem to shake it. The more I secretly criticized others I was shown the mud on my own face. Thankfully I am full aware of God’s amazing grace! I do know how to climb out of the pit.
As I sat with Jesus searching through His Word for something to marinate in, my eyes fell on 1 John 4:7. Only God truly knows how to love perfectly all the time. God is love and love comes from Him.
Purple Cone flowers are some of my most favorite wildflowers. I recently ordered some seeds and can’t wait to see them growing and basking in the sun on our property. They remind me of what it must look like from God’s perspective when I reach the place of standing outside of my mud pit with a repentant heart. Standing before God, my Creator, my Savior, with fresh mud dripping off the tips of my fingers, with my face turned upward to Him. I believe what He sees is someone beautifully dressed in humility. His love pours into me and I glow with unspeakable beauty from the inside out.
Bees and butterflies land on these flowers and collect the pollen from the very center of these purple beauties. They carry the sweet nectar from flower to flower. Just like the spreading of pollen helps the flowers to grow and multiply, so does the Hope from my story that is shared from the very center of my heart carried to others who may be afraid to climb out of their own pit of sin.
I began “Love Comes From Above” seeking help from Above to love others like God does. Only He can teach me how and now, ...now I know Him even better than before!
